Welcome to Claire Desmarais Woodworking and Watson River DesignWe are a small custom woodworking shop located on the Annie Lake Road, 45 km south of Whitehorse, in the Hamlet of Mount Lorne. Our shop also happens to be next to the Watson River in the southern Yukon, thus our domain name "Watson River Design". We specialize in custom kitchens and furniture, but we have also undertaken a wide variety of woodworking projects over the years such as: wooden boat construction and repair, decorative wooden boxes, chests, and toys, wooden signs, and just recently CNC routing. Please view the various links on this page to see a few of the projects completed over the years. Not all of the projects we have completed over the years are displayed on this web site. If you are interested in our work we can show you a more extensive portfolio of many other projects. When starting a new project with a customer, we develop preliminary design drawings and cost estimates for the customer. From this conceptual start we work towards a final design and cost prior to actual construction. We also feel very strongly that the woods used in our shop should come from sustainable forestry practices whenever possible and that adhesives and finishes must be environmentally safe. Our choice of using only environmentally safe products is based on two factors: concern for our own health and that of others as well as the environment. By environmentally safe, we mean those products that are non-toxic, that do not contain compounds that may contribute to ozone depletion and that can be disposed of without contributing to our "hazardous waste" problem.
